Hotfix Reporter 3.2 beta 2 readme file

========================================
INTRODUCTION

Hotfix Reporter is a freeware utility from Maximized Software that enhances the output of the Microsoft HfNetChk.EXE tool.

When used by itself, HfNetChk (Hotfix Net Checker) will scan your Windows NT/2000 computers and report on missing hotfixes. But the program output is very raw and lacks clickable links.

Hotfix Reporter converts the HfNetChk output into nice HTML and launches a browser to display the results. References to Microsoft security bulletins and knowledgebase articles are displayed as clickable links.

Hotfix Reporter is run via a batch file (HFREPORT.CMD).

========================================
INSTRUCTIONS

After installing Hotfix Reporter, just run the shortcut labelled Hotfix Reporter (usually located in your Administrative Tools menu). HfNetChk will scan your system(s), and then Hotfix Reporter will convert the results to HTML and launch a browser to view them.

========================================
INSTALLATION

The easiest way to install Hotfix Reporter is to run the setup program. Be sure to install this program into the same directory as the HfNetChk.EXE tool.

If you are performing a manual installation, just install these files into the program directory:

1.  HfReport.CMD
2.  Tab2Html.EXE
3.  HrLogo.GIF
4. Hotfix Reporter readme.TXT (this file)

If you want to create a Start menu shortcut (link) to run this program, be sure to link to the HfReport.CMD file (rather than to the Tab2Html.EXE file). Name the shortcut Hotfix Reporter. (The setup program will automatically create a shortcut for you.)

========================================
HOW TO UNINSTALL HOTFIX REPORTER

No uninstall program is provided since uninstalling is very easy, and to help keep the program directory clean.

To uninstall, simply delete the following files from the program directory:

1.  HfReport.CMD
2.  Tab2Html.EXE
3.  HrLogo.GIF
